clean & simple sunday no. 104

I’m away at the A Muse Studio National Conference in Santa Fe, NM! This wonderful consultant event is not to be missed! I’m getting all kinds of great training for my business and learning new stamping techniques to bring back to share with all of you! (not to mention lots of free stamp sets, tons of make & takes and oodles of fun with my fellow consultants!) I’ll be heading home tomorrow with all the scoop on the upcoming A|S Holiday Catalog, but in the mean time I do have a clean and simple Sunday card to share…

CSS-104_MiniBlooms_wreathYes, this card also features the Mini Blooms stamp set from A Muse Studio (I think the last several weeks have featured this same set, but see how versatile it is?! This is one set everyone should have in their collection—it’s THAT useful!)

To create the wreath design, I used one of my circle dies to trace a partial circle in pencil on my base panel. I then stamped the leaf cluster in grass ink, working my way around the circle. The pencil line is the perfect guide to help keep the shape of my wreath relatively even. I then stamped some of the little dots in blueberry ink (ha!) to look like little blueberry clusters. The sentiment is from the Beautiful Birthday stamp set and I stamped that in Versamark ink on a strip of vellum card stock and then heat embossed it in silver. I wrapped this strip around the front of my panel and used adhesive on the back to hold it in place. The only embellishment on this one is a wrap of toffee twine and a little bow to finish it off!

I know it’s a little early but can you picture this in red & green as a Christmas card?!?!  How about something like this?

MiniBloom-xmas SwapThese were my swap cards for National Conference. I brought a bunch of these with me to swap with other consultants in return for the gift of their “little masterpieces” so I’ll have a whole bunch of new samples to share with you at your next workshop!

a winter wreath project

One of the items that surprised me by showing up on the A Muse|Studio Product Retire List is the Snowflake Trio die set.
I really love this die set. The snowflakes are so pretty and delicate and all three are very different. I use them a lot. One thing I’ve learned from being in the “business of stamping” is that when the retirement list comes out, I’m always surprised and even saddened by something I see on “the list”, but whenever the new catalog comes out, I’m always SO THRILLED with so many of the new stamp sets, embellishments or tools, that I completely forget about the retired list and what was on it…

…The retired list exists to make room for all the wonderful new things
that A Muse|Studio has in store for us come March…

That said, this wonderful Snowflake Trio die set is one that I will miss promoting next winter. I’ve used it on countless projects and cards and I have one final project to share with you today to encourage you to get this set while it’s still available if it has been on your wish list.

A winter wreath…

A few days before New Year’s Eve I was in my local craft store and I came across a small display of final clearance Christmas items. I saw some pretty, silvery-white bead garland for $9.99 but it was 70% off and thought it would be perfect for a little winter wreath project I was planning to make. I picked up a medium grapevine wreath (for about $5) and some sheer organdy ribbon (for about $3) so for about $12 I put together a cute, frosty, winter wreath for my front door.

In addition to the supplies above, I cut several snowflakes (using the Snowflake Trio die set) out of vanilla shimmer card stock. I first wrapped the beaded garland around the wreath. I then made the bow and placed it where I thought I would like it and finally, I glued the snowflakes to the wreath.

I layered a few sets of large and medium snowflakes together using a foam square and then used my glue gun to add dots of glue to the back of all of the snowflakes I’d cut out to stick them to the grapevine wreath. I added a sparkle sticker to the center of each to add a little detail.

This is just what my front door needed after the Christmas wreath was put away for next year. This wreath will take me through to late March when my pansy wreath comes out again for Spring. It was a quick and easy project and it not only lifted my post-holiday spirits but brightened up my front door!
