clean & simple sunday no. 110

I know the kids are back in school and all of the holiday stamping catalogs are releasing this month, but the weather has it still feeling like summer here in New England! I used a couple of oldie but goodie stamp sets for my clean and simple card this week— Snail & Co. + Life’s A Breeze…I’ll have lots of holiday card inspiration for you in the coming weeks, but for now I’m not quite ready to put summer away!

Starting with a sky panel, I stamped the grass image from the Snail & Co. set using grass ink, added a torn strip of pebble card stock and then stamped a little crab from the Life’s A Breeze stamp set in apple ink. I stamped the sentiment (also from Life’s a Breeze) in seattle ink on a strip of sugar card stock and cut the little fish tail with scissors before popping it up on the stamped panel with some foam adhesive.

Just looking at this card makes me want to go to Cape Cod…(smile)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

color challenge wednesday #20

Today’s color challenge card features the A Muse|Studio stamp set Friend to Friend. The color challenge for this week is to use turquoise, bright orange, and medium green (A|S colors: bermuda, bellini & grass)…

Another simple design, but notice how the majority of the color is bermuda, with a splash of bellini and grass in about equal parts. The sentiment is stamped in Memento black to help it stand out a bit more. I used foam squares to pop the design panel off the card base. Another fun, summer note card…  See what you can whip up using these colors!

clean & simple sunday #44

I just returned from a beautiful, relaxing cruise vacation to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Canada with my family. We had a wonderful time together and a terrific cruising experience on Carnival Cruise Line, I highly recommend it…  I’m sure that’s what inspired me to use the Life’s A Breeze stamp set from A Muse|Studio this morning for the C&SS card this week.

I chose wheat card stock for the base card and used a bit of cherry polka dot to embellish. The little scene panel was very simple to create…I stamped the lighthouse on scrap white card stock in Memento black ink and colored it in with my lipstick red Copic marker before cutting it out of the scrap piece. I glued a strip of winter sky (that I’d cut out with my scallop border die to create the waves) to a white base panel. I trimmed out a scrap of wheat with my scissors to create the “beachy knoll” for the lighthouse to sit on and stamped the little crab in cherry ink on the “beach”. I used foam squares to adhere the lighthouse so it would pop off the base panel a bit. I layered the “scene” panel onto a piece of white card stock to create a mat (to define it a bit more, in a subtle way). The final touch was the sentiment stamped in the background.

This is such a cute note card for summer sending… It would be fun to create these or bring them along on a beach vacation and send to family or friends instead of postcards!  If you have the blessing of living at the beach and get visitors in the summer, wouldn’t this be a delightful card to leave on the night table in the guest room to welcome your guests? Or just create the scene panel and make it a tag to tie on a small pail filled with spare soap, a tooth brush and some sample sizes of shampoo or lotion in the guest bath …so many fun ideas!  Enjoy, and have a lovely summer Sunday… back to reality for me!
