Day 12

The last day of the holiday card series is upon us and the card for today is one last card using the Peaceful Forest stamp set…

For this card, I chose a cherry base, horizontal design with the fold on the left. I cut a panel of sugar to 3.5×4.25”, stamped my little forest in grass ink and the sentiment to the right of that in cherry ink. I added a narrow panel of kraft card stock cut with my Labels 8 die set and finished off this sweet and simple design with a bit of cherry baker’s twine.

I hope you have enjoyed this year’s A|S Christmas Card Series. I really enjoyed putting it together and hope to make this an annual tradition here at Checkerberry Lane Studio. I have really appreciated all of your kind and thoughtful comments so thank you for sharing your thoughts as you worked your way through all of these card designs the last 12 days!  There will be more Christmas card examples between now and through December, no worries, but I hope this sparked some ideas for you and gave you a little eye-candy to enjoy.

Holiday Card Series 2013 – Peace on Earth

Day 1

I am kicking of my first (annual) holiday card series today with a card that is perfect if you have many cards to make this holiday! It’s a one-layer, one stamp set card that uses minimal supplies and has only a few steps in its creation, so very easy to reproduce in bulk! The stamp set featured in this card is the brand new Peaceful Forest set.

I started with a sugar card base and cut a 3.25” circle in the front of the card panel using my Spellbinders circle dies and my Sizzix die cutting machine. I placed the die on my card front, secured it with a bit of washi tape so it wouldn’t move as it went through the machine and was left with a hole in the front of my card. I traced a light circle with pencil around the inside of the hole and opened up the card. The pencil line gave me the area that would be seen through the card front and created a reference circle where I stamped the tree images in grass ink. I stamped some of the trees twice without re-inking (second generation stamping) to add some depth to my “forest”. I then erased the pencil line and stamped the sentiment on the front of the card in cherry ink.

The only embellishment is a bit of cherry baker’s twine to add interest and a bit more color. Fun, fast and perfect for your holiday message!
