Holiday Card Series 2014 – A Gift for You

So sorry to those of you who noticed card #11 didn’t post yesterday! Had a craft fair with my Checkerberry Lane Studio booth and forgot to post it!  Anyway…

Card # 11 |  Another card to showcase those adorable 6×6 Christmas Sweater papers…

ChristmasSweater

I started this card with a 3.5″square panel of cherry card stock and cut nine 1″ squares of the various patterns in the Christmas Sweater paper packet. I glued the paper squares to the 3.5″ panel and popped this panel off of the sugar card base with some 3D foam squares. I added a large, white bow using the sugar 5/8″ satin ribbon and tucked in a little tag with the “Be Merry” sentiment from the Oh What Fun stamp set.

I will wait until tonight to post the final card in the Holiday Card Series… enjoy!!

Holiday Card Series 2014 – Be Merry

Card #8 |  This card features a stamp set you’d never expect, Rolling Seas Background, plus a sentiment from the Oh What Fun stamp set.

I started this card with a base card of cherry and my favorite corner rounder, the Corner Chomper tool. I then cut a panel of sugar card stock and proceeded to dry emboss a grid pattern on the panel using my score board. I lined up the groove every ¼” and scored the card stock all the way across, then I turned it 90 degrees and scored lines every ¼” again. I love the subtle texture and the interest it adds to the card design.

I then layered on a panel of petite polka dot card stock in mermaid. I cut a ½” strip of sugar card stock and stamped my sentiment in cherry ink, cutting a fish tail on one end. To make the tree, I cut a triangle of sage card stock and used the Rolling Seas Background stamp with grass ink to create the scalloped boughs on my triangle tree. I popped up my tree with 3D foam adhesive and added a cherry button and some cherry baker’s cording to embellish.

This was fun to make because I love to use stamp sets in a way that you wouldn’t normally expect, I love any way to stretch my stash!

Holiday Card Series 2014 – Snowflakes Sponged

Card #6 |  The card for today involved a bit of technique, to mix things up!

HCS-14_SpongedSnowflake copy

I started by cutting a sheet of regular printer paper to measure 4 x 5.25”. I then used a square die to cut a window into the printer paper panel to create a sponging mask for my card panel. I placed this mask over a piece of white card stock that I cut to measure the same size, 4 x 5.25”. I took out my Bermuda ink pad and my sponge and lightly sponged the area around the edge of the square mask opening. Keeping the mask in place, I stamped snowflakes in various sizes and ink colors of sage, eucalyptus and mermaid inside the sponged area.

I lifted the mask, stamped the greeting in the lower right corner and mounted this panel directly to my sage card base. I then added a wrap of French roast & white baker’s twine. I realized it was looking a little bit empty somehow, so I created a little tag out of a scrap of cardstock + my Corner Chomper tool, stamped a tiny, sage snowflake on it, punched a little hole and tied it to the twine already on the card, popping it up with a 3D foam square. I added a few twinkle stickers for some shine and hooray, it’s complete!

Thanks for taking a look today!  We are half way through the Holiday Card Series for 2014!
