clean & simple sunday no. 114

I don’t mean to rush the holidays, I really don’t, but I want to let you know that my 2014 Holiday Card Series is right around the corner! Starting this Wednesday, October 15th, for 12 days straight, I will be sharing a handmade Christmas card to get you thinking about making your own cards this year and hopefully provide some inspiration!

To kick off the anticipation, I chose Bottle Brush Forest for my card today, it’s one of the new stamp sets in the A|S Holiday Catalog for 2014…

For this card, I started with a white card base. I thought a subtle background would make this card a bit more special so I inked up the Haunted Mansion Background stamp in pebble ink and stamped the front of the card. I then stamped a few of the larger limbed trees in a row, using fern ink. The sentiment, Season’s Greetings, is included with this stamp set. I cut a small strip of cherry card stock and heat embossed the greeting with Versamark ink, white embossing powder and my Milwaukee Heat Tool, popping the sentiment strip off of the card front with 3D foam adhesive. The finishing touch was to add a few cherry sparkle stickers. Every holiday card needs a little sparkle!

This clean and simple Christmas card would be super easy to mass produce and wouldn’t require a lot of supplies. Just enough “cuteness” to put some magic in someone’s mailbox this holiday season!

I hope you’re excited about the Holiday Card Series for 2014… I have lots to share and hope you will respond with comments!  Thanks so much!

Until Wednesday…

clean & simple sunday no. 90 – season’s greetings

I’m prepping for a couple of holiday craft fairs and working hard to build up a little Christmas card inventory so despite my Holiday Card Series wrap-up, Christmas cards are still very much at the forefront of my mind these days. Today I chose to share a card I made using Sweet Wishes, a brand new stamp set from this year’s A Muse Studio holiday catalog…

A very clean and simple design with lots of literal “white space”, this card is not only cute to look at but was really fun to make. I started by stamping the little string of lights image onto sugar card stock in Memento tuxedo black ink and proceeded to color in the little light bulbs with my Copic markers. I then went over them with my Quickie glue pen and dusted them with superfine glitter.

The little sparkle the glitter creates along with the adorable cherry & white baker’s twine is just the right amount of embellishment to balance out this card design.  I also used sage card stock to mat the image panel, leaving a slightly larger border at the base of the mat to bottom-weight the image panel and provide a little extra “base” for the baker’s twine to rest. Sweet, simple and a little whimsical, too. Happy {clean & simple} Sunday!
