clean & simple sunday no. 110

I know the kids are back in school and all of the holiday stamping catalogs are releasing this month, but the weather has it still feeling like summer here in New England! I used a couple of oldie but goodie stamp sets for my clean and simple card this week— Snail & Co. + Life’s A Breeze…I’ll have lots of holiday card inspiration for you in the coming weeks, but for now I’m not quite ready to put summer away!

Starting with a sky panel, I stamped the grass image from the Snail & Co. set using grass ink, added a torn strip of pebble card stock and then stamped a little crab from the Life’s A Breeze stamp set in apple ink. I stamped the sentiment (also from Life’s a Breeze) in seattle ink on a strip of sugar card stock and cut the little fish tail with scissors before popping it up on the stamped panel with some foam adhesive.

Just looking at this card makes me want to go to Cape Cod…(smile)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

clean & simple sunday no. 99

I am back (after an unforeseen absence—no troubles at all, life just crept up on me and attacked!) with another cute, clean and simple Sunday card, this week featuring one of my very favorite A Muse Studio stamp sets — Life’s A Breeze

I can’t resist that little crab. He gets me every time! Sometimes we buy these adorable stamp sets and after we make a card or two we put them away. Later, when we find them in our stash again we wonder, “this is so cute but why did I buy this, when will I ever use it?”. I can’t speak for every “cute” stamp set in your stash, but nautical stamp sets are great for making small sets of note cards to take along on beach vacations. I know that some of you out there are lucky enough to be spending your whole summer at the beach, if not a few weeks in a row, and what better time to catch up on some friendly correspondence and make someone’s day but sticking a cute note card in the mail to them?!  Even if you are not at the beach (or even planning a trip to the beach), people do this in the summer and this is a perfect time of year to send out a note to a friend in a note card with a beach theme.

This was a fun, easy card to put together. This set gives you some really fun images to work with and lots of combinations to try. For this particular card, I wanted the focal point to look like a little polariod picture so I bottom weighted the white mat, leaving the border much thicker at the bottom. The beach chair is stamped in blueberry ink on a winter sky background with ocean waves stamped in bermuda. I tore a little strip of latte card stock to make the sand and stamped that little crab in cherry ink. I embellished the panel with a piece of cherry chevron ribbon folded in half, stapled to my project panel and then I covered the staple with a cherry button I’d threaded with twine and secured it with a glue dot. I popped the whole panel up with our 3D adhesive to give it some dimension when I glued it to my kraft card base. The sentiment is stamped on a little white strip in slate ink. I glued this directly to the card panel. I think a card like this would make any recipient smile!
