clean & simple sunday no. 106

A little late with my post this week but better late than never, right!?

This week I have big news!! A Muse Studio is holding an Every Day is a Holiday Sale!!  That means 40% OFF select stamp sets during the month of August, while supplies last. I’ve attached a flyer to this post right HERE so you can have a closer look at this fabulous sale—don’t miss out on any of these must have stamp sets—get ’em before they’re gone!

One of the sets featured in the sale offerings is the Hark! set from last year’s holiday catalog… I really love this clean and simple angel stamp set and the sentiments are lovely too so the clean & simple design for this week features a card design using an image and sentiment from this very set!

DSC_0317 copyI stamped an angel in Versamark ink and did some gold heat embossing on a winter sky card base. The sentiment is stamped in cherry ink on a white panel and I added a wrap of cherry and white baker’s cording to embellish.

I’m going to have a few more ideas this month, using stamp sets featured as part of this terrific sale! I hope you’ll check back soon or subscribe in the right margin of my blog… it’s completely free and you’ll never miss a post!  Thanks for stopping in today!  Until next time…  Kris V.

clean & simple sunday no. 96

I have been thinking about Easter cards and although I don’t normally send them out, I may send a few across the miles this year because I’m having fun coming up with ideas!  This week I did a clean and simple card using the You’re Too Kind stamp and die set. I cut a bird shape out of sugar card stock using the bird-shaped die and stamped the corresponding bird image from this set using French Roast ink onto the little bird shape….

a muse studio; you're too kind, handmade easter card

I put my sky base card together using a panel of sugar card stock dry embossed with dots, and wrapped with a bit of french roast satin ribbon. I stamped the sentiment (from the Egg-stravagant stamp set) onto the card and then attached that pretty bird with some foam adhesive, to pop it up off the base card. I rounded the bottom edges with my corner chomper tool to finish off this clean & simple design. I think the design of this card, combined with the color combination would make for a beautiful sympathy card as well, just change out the sentiment.

Until next time…

Clean and Simple Sunday No. 95

I’m back this week with another clean and simple Sunday card, this week featuring the Egg Die from A Muse Studio. This wafer-thin die coordinates with the A|S Egg-stravaganza stamp set and includes the sentiment shown on this card…

To create this card, I chose a base card in sugar. I cut out 4 of the egg shapes using the egg die, two in lichen, one in grapefruit and one in sky. I lined them up on a vanilla panel, added a strip of sugar across the top of them and stamped my sentiment in Versafine onyx ink. The only embellishment is a bit of sky polka dot organdy ribbon.

clean & simple sunday no. 88

Today I’m participating in another challenge over at the CAS on Sunday Blog… this week’s card theme is “baby card”.

DSC_0063 copy

The images for this sweet baby card come from the Little Peanuts stamp set from A Muse Studio. Base card is in lichen card stock with a fern  5/8″ satin ribbon.

This stamp set contains all outline images of the animals, which makes it a perfect set to use with your Copic markers! The sentiments are all in that swirly, handwritten font–great for baby cards or invitations to baby showers!

You can check out (and pin!)  more baby cards from the great inspiration at CAS on Sunday!

Ombre or Rainbow… Which do you prefer?

This week I happened upon the A Muse|Studio Consultant Challenge Blog!  What fun!
This wonderful site poses creative challenges and all of the design team members are
A Muse|Studio Consultants. This is a great place to visit when you need some stamping inspiration!

This week’s challenge is to make a card showcasing “ombre” or “rainbow”… whichever you prefer. I decided to go with ombre and this is the card I created for the challenge…

Ombre a muse studio cas card design

Ombre is french term meaning shaded or graduated in tone. In stamping, this usually refers to using shades of color that would normally be adjacent on a color wheel, either warm or cool.

For my card design, I created the ombre background by taking an empty acrylic block, running a pink, then orange, then yellow Tombow marker back & forth in stripes across the empty block and then spritzing it lightly with water before stamping it onto a square of Bristol/watercolor paper. As soon as the background was dry, I stamped the flower sillouette from the A Muse|Studio Beautiful Botanicals 2 stamp set, in onyx ink directly over top of my background color. I finished off the design by wrapping a bit of onyx & white baker’s twine around the panel before attaching it to the base card with foam tape and adding that little “hello” sentiment.

There are some wonderful examples of ombre and rainbow cards at the challenge blog…pop on over to play along or to enjoy the inspiration provided by these very talented consultants.
