clean & simple sunday no. 118

Back this week with another clean & simple Sunday card, participating in a new challenge over at the CAS-ual Fridays Blog, this time using a set from the brand new A Muse Studio-February Monthly Collection…

This stamp set is called Happiness Blooms, and it sure does when you pair this stamp set with watercolor!
I stamped the tulip pitcher image using archival black ink on piece of watercolor paper. I used my waterbrush and A|S Splash! inks in grapefruit, lime, winter sky and slate to color in the image outline. A simple wrap of twine is the only embellishment this week. I popped up the watercolored panel from the shell card base using 3D foam squares and chomped the upper right corner to finish it off.

You can browse the FEBRUARY MONTHLY COLLECTION flyer right HERE. The items in this collection will only be available for a short time— order by February 28th at midnight to get the items you want! You can order right HERE anytime you like, items ship right to your door, anywhere in the U.S.

Thanks for having a look this week! Head on over to the CAS-ual Friday’s Blog to see more watercolor card inspiration…  until next time!

Happy New Year!  I’m very happy to be returning to my clean & simple Sunday posts and sharing some fun new products from A Muse Studio!

The card for today features products out of the new January Monthly Collection! I’m also playing over at the CASual-Friday blog and participating in their latest challenge, to incorporate felt and sequins on the same card…

I started with a base card in Seattle. Items from the January Monthly Collection include the stitched tag die, the sequins and the sentiment on the little fish tail flag from the My Punny Valentine stamp set. I also incorporated some felt I had left over from the A|S Holiday Catalog offerings, plus some stitched cherry grosgrain ribbon and a cherry button.

Now, the challenge over at the CAS-ual Friday Blog is open until January 23rd, in case you’d like to participate. Items from the January Monthly Collection can be ordered at your convenience right HERE.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year as we enjoy the last few days of 2013…

My “Happy New Year” edition of Clean & Simple Sunday so I made a card to participate in the CAS-ual Friday card challenge this week…

This card was inspired by some emboss resist technique cards I saw online this weekend…

I so love this cool, magical technique where you heat emboss in white or clear embossing powder and then swipe ink onto your card stock over the embossed background and you get the “resist” of the ink over the embossed areas.
DSC_0170 copy I chose a watercolor card stock for the stamped snowflake images from the A|S Let It Snow stamp set and heat embossed them in white embossing powder. I then took Ranger distress ink in Broken China and swiped it over the snowflake images. You don’t need to used watercolor card stock for this technique, I just thought I might spritz it with water when I was done swiping, but then I changed my mind. The watercolor card stock holds up better than regular card stock when you’re using water.

The sentiment is from the A|S Essential Sentiments stamp set. I used a little shell button and some twine to embellish and finish off my design.

I hope you all enjoy a safe, happy holiday and I look forward to sharing some fun ideas in the New Year!

cas-ual friday – clean & simple challenge: polka dots!

I’m back this week and excited to be posting a card I made in response to another great challenge from CAS-ual Fridays!

The challenge this week was to create a card using polka dots and this is what came up with:

Super clean & simple with a card base of sky blue + black & white…very crisp! I used an A Muse Studio stamp set called Geek is the new Chic for both the glasses image and the sentiment. This set comes with a coordinating die set as well, so cutting out the polka dot border for the eye glasses was a breeze…I actually cut two glasses shapes, one in onyx polka dot and one in white, I then stamped the glasses image on the white die cut and trimmed the edges a little bit closer so that when I mounted it on the onyx polka dot die some of the dots would show up! I used some foam squares to pop the glasses off the page and finished off the design with some onyx polka dot organdy ribbon.

There is still time to join in the challenge fun over at CAS-ual Fridays!!  Grab some polka dots and get busy!!

Today I’m taking part in the CAS-ual Friday’s clean & simple challenge for this week…

The theme is HUNGER GAMES and participants are being challenged to create a clean & simple card using at least one arrow.

I was really inspired to participate in this one because I’ve had a new stamp set from A Muse|Studio called I Was Here and I couldn’t wait to use it! I knew it would be perfect for this challenge.

I chose a base card in wheat and a stamped panel in sugar. I used ocean ink to stamp the sentiment and cut a cute little heart (the medium out of the heart trio die set) out of petite polka dot cherry. The arrow paper clip is from the hung up collection of cute clips at Stampin’ Up! and I finished off my design with a bit of onyx polka dot organdy ribbon. This stamp set does come with a few different arrow styles but I couldn’t come up with a nice, clean design using them, so after several attempts, I just decided to use that adorable paper clip.

There is still time to participate in this challenge and plenty of great inspiration over at the CAS-ual Friday’s blog! Enjoy!!

This week I am participating in a clean & simple “Congratulations” card challenge over at the  CAS-ual Fridays blog…

I came up with this design for my contribution to the challenge…

CAS baby card design a muse studio

They didn’t specify what type of congratulations so I took the liberty of creating a baby card to congratulate new parents!

The rhino image is from the A Muse|Studio Little Peanut set, the sentiment from Say it in Style. I chose a color combination of bermuda, slate and saffron (although I agree that it looks more like melon than saffron in the photo, for any of you who noticed). I used Copic markers to color, outlining the rhino with BG10 to give him some depth.

To give the card design some interest, I trimmed the base card to 5″ wide instead of the usual 5-1/2″ and attached the stamped panel so that it over-hangs the edge of the base card a bit. By trimming the base card, this design will still fit into a standard A2-size envelope!

There is still plenty of time for you to pop over to the CAS-ual Fridays blog to participate in this fun, little, clean & simple challenge, if you wish!  The inspiration alone is worth the visit! Thanks so much for stopping by today to check out the clean & simple Sunday post at Checkerberry Lane Studio! I love when you visit!
