DIY Mason Jar Floral Centerpieces

As someone who enjoys a creative challenge, I jumped at the chance to help my sweet cousin, Karen, when she offered to make floral centerpieces for her friend Rebecca’s surprise bridal shower. She knew she wanted to use mason jars and the shower colors were bright and cheerful, so choosing flowers would be easy, she just needed some ideas for making them extra special. We talked it over, I gave her a few suggestions, and this was the final result…

We were both VERY happy with the way they turned out. She did the flower arranging, choosing colorful zinnias from a local shop and filling in the arrangements with hydrangeas and black-eyed suzies from her own back yard. I created the “jar wraps” using stamps and supplies from A Muse|Studio.  Lets have a closer look…

The jars are the regular, one quart ball mason jars.  I took a 3.5″ paper doily from A|S plus a few glue dots and stuck the doily to the jar. I then wrapped some natural twine around the jar a couple of times, threading in a hand-stamped tag with the bride & groom’s first initials. Since it was a simple backyard shower and the bride is a rustic-loving girl, we kept the design sweet and simple.

I used the Beatrice Alphabet stamp set from the January 2015 Monthly Collection to stamp the initials and then the foliage wreath from the Bee Happy stamp set found in our regular catalog. I used a Versamark ink pad and then heat embossed the initials and wreath with white embossing powder on onyx card stock to make them look like little chalk board tags. Although it might be difficult to see in the photos, the black tags were also trimmed with a scalloped panel in kraft card stock to add a little detail. These were hole punched and tied onto the mason jars with the natural twine. I then anchored them to the doily with some additional glue dots. Karen then arranged the flowers and then filled the jars with water, placing them in the refrigerator overnight so they would still be fresh for the shower the following day.

This is a photo of one of the jars on a table before everyone arrived, including the bride-to-be. She was REALLY tickled when she saw the initials on the mason jars. Everyone loved the arrangements and Karen received lots of compliments! It was a lovely backyard shower with lots of love and congrats for the Bride-to-be and simple details like the flower arrangements to help make the celebration even more special.

If you’d like to order the supplies from A Muse Studio to create something like this for your own party you can do that right HERE. If you’d like to look at our current annual catalog you can see it and download it HERE.

I always welcome your comments and love to hear feedback! Thanks for taking a look!

Until next time…
