clean & simple sunday no. 107 + a bonus!

A few new stamp sets arrived this week and I had to crack open this adorable BEE HAPPY set! I’ve had my eye on this one since my first peek at the new 2014-2015 A|S catalog…

This card was so quick and easy to make and was inspired by all of the beautiful bumble bees in my perennial garden right now, with the phlox and echinacea in bloom!

I started with a base card in papaya and I used my Corner Chomper tool to round the corners 1/4″. For the little stamped panel I cut a circle in sugar card stock and then a mat for the circle with my scalloped circles in onyx card stock. The leaves are stamped in papaya ink and the bee in onyx ink. I colored in the bee’s body with my Tombow marker #025. I used a bit of onyx polka dot ribbon to embellish and to turn my circle into a tag and then I used foam adhesive to pop the tag off the base card. I cut a little strip of papaya card stock and stamped the sentiment in onyx ink!

When I finished this card, I wasn’t quite ready to put this stamp set away, so I took out my pillow box die and cut a couple of panels to put together this little gift box…

The box die cuts the shape and scores the lines where you fold. I put some strong, super tape adhesive on both of the side-flaps and glued the box together very easily. I then cut a strip of onyx card stock and wrapped it around to create a belly band. I cut a tag shape out of a scrap of papaya card stock and stamped some images from the BEE HAPPY stamp set in onyx ink, tied on some more of that ribbon and attached it to the belly band with some adhesive. Now I have a cute gift box all ready for gift-giving!  The A Muse Studio pillow box die is $21.99 which I think is a great investment—I know I’m going to use this often for giving gift cards & small gifts both for birthdays and at Christmas.
