handmade valentines…

I had some time last weekend to play in my studio and I decided to work on some Valentines, both for my Etsy shop and just for fun. I thought I’d share a few of the cards I made using A Muse|Studio products, to give you some fun ideas…

DSC_0235I used Sending My Love stamp set, latte card base, grapefruit card stock and blush + grapefruit inks and a little bit of shell ribbon. The shell ribbon coordinates better in real life than it does in the photo… you’ll have to trust me on that. 🙂

This one was made using the Tweet Heart stamp set from A|S… I used a latte card base + latte ink, grapefruit chevron + grapefruit ink and to embellish, a bit of blush baker’s cord and my Quickie Glue Pen and a dusting of glitter on the little, pink bird… love this one—so cute! The glitter on the little bird really makes it special…

I didn’t really do much stamping on this one, just the little sentiment on the fish tail strip and I used the words “sending my love” from the Love is in the Air stamp set from A|S. The card base is grapefruit, with a cherry scalloped circle on a little doily. Layered on top is a shell card stock heart cut from the Heart Trio Die Set (the largest heart in the set which measures about 1″ tall by 1.5″ across) + a cherry button glued on with a Mini Glue Dot.

This last card is not all A Muse Studio supplies – the card base (mermaid) and the button (bermuda) are about it, but you could re-create a card like this using any products you have on hand… I thought you might enjoy the idea of this card (the design elements, the color combination, etc,) + it’s fun to see how our A|S card stock colors really do coordinate with other company products!

So for this one I took a heart punch that I have on hand (from SU!) and punched out 8 hearts of the same pattern and then one in a coordinating pattern (these papers are SU!, too). I glued these in rows to a sugar panel, layered that panel onto a panel of the same paper as the last heart, wrapped around a little 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon in real red (SU!), added a sugar scallop with some scallop scissors I have in my stash and then added that cute, square button from A|S to embellish before adding the whole panel to a mermaid card base with some foam tape. I love the retro, whimsical look of the patterns and color combination.

I hope you enjoyed the Valentine inspiration today…maybe you’ll whip up a few handmade Valentine’s of your own!

Until next time… K
