Holiday Card Series 2013 – Peace, Joy & Merry

Day 11

I had such fun creating this card! I love the color scheme of pastels with the cherry “Merry” combined with the scalloped border die and the silver-glittered star! A few of my A Muse|Studio friends have seen this one already because I posted it to the consultant gallery a few months ago when I first created it, but here it is for all of you to see as it makes my blog debut…

I started this card with a panel of vanilla card stock cut to 3.5×4”. The word stamps are from the On Dasher stamp set. I started by stamping MERRY in cherry ink in the lower right corner, tilting the image so it stamped in a diagonal line. I then inked up JOY in lichen ink and PEACE in Bermuda ink and stamped them as a background on the same diagonal, filling them in around the MERRY. I then attached this panel to a panel of sky card stock and cut a vanilla scallop for the bottom using the scallop trio border dies.

While I was at the Sizzix machine, I also cut the medium star from the star trio. To create the glittered effect, I pressed the star die cut into my Versamark ink pad to coat the entire front. I picked it up with tweezers and dusted it with Simple Stick powder, then used my heat tool to liquefy the powder, creating an adhesive for the glitter. I dusted the wet adhesive with the silver glitter and heat set again. Using the Simple Stick powder gives the glitter a good adhesive base to stick to so you get great coverage that dries quickly when heat set. I then attached the star with foam squares to the panel, just above the Merry, keeping it on the diagonal. The last step is to wrap the panel with cherry baker’s twine and attach to the base card using foam adhesive.

All stamp sets and card-making supplies used to make this card can be purchased through my secure web store at your convenience, and orders ship directly to your door anywhere in the U.S.
