Holiday Card Series 2013 – Emboss Resist

Day 3

This card was a bit of an experiment in emboss resist technique. I started with a base card of cherry and set aside. I then cut a panel of sugar card stock and stamped the Haunted Mansion Background stamp in Versamark ink on the panel. I dusted it with white embossing powder and heat set. I then took a sponge and applied sage ink to the heat embossed panel to see the haunted mansion background images emerge, creating a very pretty, delicate backdrop for the rest of the card design.

I layered on a narrow strip of petite polka dot card stock in cherry a little below center to help bottom-weight the design and then stamped a large snowflake from the Nordic Noel stamp set in the center of a white, scalloped circle. I added a sparkle sticker to the center and applied this piece of the card to the card base using foam adhesive.
