Clean & Simple Sunday No. 89 + one more…

For many of you stampers out there, this time of year isn’t just about raking leaves, baking pies and choosing Halloween costumes, many of you are already contemplating your handmade Christmas cards for this year, and for good reason–Christmas is exactly 66 days from today. Now this notion shouldn’t create any panic, there is plenty of time to make your holiday cards and get them out, but now is a good time to start thinking about it if you haven’t started to already.

I have to say that making my Christmas cards is personally one of my very favorite holiday traditions. From choosing the stamp set(s), the color scheme and sketching out the design to addressing them and putting them into the mail… I love the entire process. The last few years I’ve been sticking with two or three different card designs to add some variety. This makes creating the cards more enjoyable than ever because I only have to make about 12 of each design AND then I don’t just have to settle on one favorite design, I can pick two or three that I love and make them all!

That said, today’s Clean & Simple Sunday card design features a sweet, simple, festive snowflake card (which leads into my special announcement below!)…

I love this holiday card—I love the “white” space that contrasts the bottom corner cluster of design, I love the gel pen “stitches” which I think really finished it off, I love the sentiment paired with the “chilly”, sparkled snowflake and I always love using buttons. I even love the rounded top right corner, but one of my favorite design elements of this card is the fact that I trimmed the base card to measure 5.5×3.75 inches, allowing that little fishtail flag to stick out over the edge yet still fit in a standard A2 size envelope!

So here are a few details on the A Muse|Studio products I used to create this card, if you’re interested– cherry card stock for the base card, rounded with the Corner Chomper tool from We R Memory Keepers (and offered by A Muse Studio!), a circle of Twas the Night card stock cut with my Spellbinders circle dies on my Sizzix die cutting machine, a little fishtail flag cut out of lichen card stock, a cherry button threaded with string and attached with a glue dot, a white gel pen for the “stitches” I drew on their by hand, eucalyptus ink for the snowflake image from the Let it Snow stamp set and clear, round twinkle stickers. The sentiment is stamped in onyx ink and comes from the Holiday Tags stamp set.

Now I mentioned above something about an “announcement”… that would be the fact that TOMORROW starts MY FIRST ANNUAL HOLIDAY CARD SERIES! I will be showcasing one handmade Christmas/Holiday card using all A Muse Studio products every day for the next twelve days in a row! So if you include today’s card idea, that gives you a “baker’s dozen” of A Muse Studio card design ideas to choose from or to help spark your own design ideas and color schemes and uses for those stamp sets you have been looking at in the catalog or better yet, already own!
