mix it up monday – modern zinnia + my minds eye

Hello everyone! Today is the first post in a new series I’m starting called “Mix it Up Monday”. A Muse|Studio products are beautifully created to work together, but they also work great with other product brands. In Mix it Up Monday posts, I’ll be sharing card ideas using A Muse|Studio products mixed with OTHER products to give you ideas to maximize what you already have in your stamping & scrapbooking stash!

For my first post, I chose the A|S Modern Zinnia stamp set, die set and then a gorgeous 6×6 paper stack from My Mind’s Eye called Indie Chic – Nutmeg

This paper packet caught my eye when I saw it at Joann’s {craft store}. I’ve had it in my stamp stash for a couple of months and every time I see it I want to use it! What I first noticed was the gorgeous color scheme of yellows, turquoise and a little bit of light brown. I then noticed the beautiful patterns, so many to choose from because each sheet has a different pattern on the back side!

You’ll notice on my card below, that I chose that second pattern from the bottom, the little multi-flower pattern. The other side of that pattern was the big, yellow chevron pattern that I used for the bottom panel of my card example…

I sampled a couple of A|S ink colors and decided that Ocean was the one that most closely matched the turquoise in the patterned paper. I cut out a large modern zinna die shape in vanilla card stock and stamped the solid flower image on the die shape. I layered the strips of patterned paper onto an A|S latte base card, wrapped some A|S french roast twill around the base card and tied a knot, using a glue dot to hold it in place, exactly where I wanted it. I then used foam squares to attach the stamped flower die. I stamped “Happy Birthday” in A|S french roast ink on the front of the card and as the finishing touch, used my Quickie glue pen and some glitter to add just the right amount of sparkle to the flower.

I’m really delighted with the way this card came out, especially the way the Ocean ink worked so well with the patterned papers from My Mind’s Eye. Looking forward to sharing more ways to help you mix it up in your own stamping projects…Happy Monday!
