featured stamp set: happy holidays

Today I want to share a few cards I made using the Happy Holidays stamp set ($16.99), one of the new text/sentiment stamp sets from the 2013 A Muse|Studio  Holiday Catalog.

When I saw this set in the catalog I knew it would be fun to work with; the bold and modern look of the font choices had me thinking of all kinds of cards I could design with these images. I spent some time this week working with the set and here are a few of my favorite creations…

For this first card, I couldn’t resist using the santa coat from the Naughty or Nice set to really set off the sentiment…The card bases in all three cards are the standard 5.5×4.25, however, this design looks great on a square 4.25″ card as well as the standard size.

Lichen card base, fern ribbon and ink for sentiment, cherry scallop and petite pinstripe panel, copic markers to color in santa coat and quickie glue pen with glitter for the fur on the coat

For this next card, I thought the words alone were great on the card front. They really set off the center panel and I used markers directly on the stamp to create two-tone coloring.

Cherry card base, fern panel run through Sizzix with polka dot embossing folder, winter sky panel cut with tiny scallop die, layered with text image on sugar colored in with cherry and fern Tombow markers, wasabi polka dot c.s. + a bit of cherry baker’s twine to embellish

For this last card I wanted to use a little felt so that the poinsettia popped off the card front a bit. I thought the cherry ribbon and marker “stitches” gave this card a fun, whimsical style…

I really enjoyed working with this stamp set. The fresh, bold sentiments really stand out nicely on a card front. They pair wonderfully with other stamp sets to create beautiful holiday cards that would be easy to mass produce for your holiday card list!
