january spotlight focus: snow day

So the Spotlight flyer for January 2013 features products and a special paper assortment in a theme they have dubbed Snow Day

SpotlightJanuary2013

I created a couple of cards and a bookmark to share with you today, using this paper assortment and a two of the stamp sets I own that are currently featured on sale in the Spotlight.

In the card above, I chose a snowflake from the Snow Day stamp set. I stamped the image in eucalyptus ink, layered it onto a eucalyptus panel and then on a panel of pebble before adhering it to a titian base card and adding a titian ribbon to the top. You could also add a sparkle sticker to the center of the snowflake to give it a little bling.

In this next card above, I chose some tree trunks out of the Best of Times stamp set. I stamped them in titan ink on a winter sky panel. I then stamped some “leaves” in eucalyptus to create an evergreen. The polka dot embossed sugar panel gives the impression of snow and the sentiment I stamped on a small scrap that I folded over the top of the panel to add some interest to the design. I also added a few sparkle stickers to help draw the eye to the sentiment. The ribbon is the titian 5/8″ satin.

This last little project is a bookmark I created out of scraps left over from the cards… I cut some eucalyptus card stock into 6 x 2.25″ strips and glued them together to create the base for my bookmark. I layered together more scraps from the featured assortment and stamped another snowflake image & sentiment from each of the stamp sets I used in the above card creations. A perfectly useful bookmark to tuck into my cozy, winter reading…

I hope these examples gave you some ideas and inspire you to take advantage of the January Spotlight sale!  Featured products will be on sale through the end of January.
