joy banner

I have another little banner to share…similar to this one and this one from previous posts, so of course I couldn’t let Christmas go by without one for this special holiday…

A Muse|Studio offers a very nice poinsettia die set that creates a really cute, layered poinsettia. It comes with three flower pieces in graduated sizes as well as three different size leaves. I chose to cut the larges flower piece in fern felt and use that base piece as the leaves for my flower and then just cut the two smaller size flowers in the cherry felt to create the flower. If you look at a poinsettia plant, the leaves and flowers have a similar texture so I didn’t think the extra leaf shapes were necessary for my project.

To create the centers, I took three small, pearl beads from the craft store and sewed them onto the flower center with a needle and thread. I glued the flowers to the banner piece, cut from Twas the Night card stock. For the words, I again, as in previous banner creation, chose a font from my computer and printed the word JOY in large letters spaced apart and then cut them out using the Nestabilities large circle dies and scallop circle dies. I used the larger of the two clothes pin sizes offered by A|S to attach the banner pieces to the baker’s twine.

I think this adds a cute, hand-crafted touch to the front door!  If you’d like to make one and have questions about the process or supplies, etc. just drop me a note in the comments and I will be happy to respond. Until next time, happy holiday crafting!
