clean & simple sunday no. 49

A little bit more of the wasabi this week on the clean & simple card for today…

I used the Fresh Foliage stamp set to create this simple note card. I started with a base card of wasabi card stock, stamped an oak leaf on vanilla using the brown Memento ink and colored it in with my Copic markers, both Y13 and YG25. I cut out the leaf and used foam squares to pop it off the french roast woodgrain card stock panel. I added a tiny vanilla scallop to the bottom of the woodgrain panel and then tied a bit of french roast & white baker’s twine as the finishing touch.

The key to getting a smooth look with the Copic markers is to layer the color. I colored the leaf in with the Y13 first, then went over the vein lines in the leaf with my YG25, then went back over the entire leaf again with the Y13. This makes the lines I drew on in YG25 blend in better and look smoother, more subtle.
