color challenge wednesday #1

A New Year brings new opportunities for sharing and I wanted to give you something fun to look forward to in the middle of every week! Welcome to the first posting of color challenge Wednesday (CCW)! You won’t need A|S colors to participate–absolutely use what you have on hand and give this weekly challenge a try! I will include the A|S colors I’m using in the example in parenthesis for those who have these colors, but any brand of color should work as long as you keep within the same color families…

This weeks post features a stamp set from A Muse|Studio called Wild Rose… I used the border stamp plus the roses and vines. The colors for this week’s challenge are pale yellow, medium yellow, light green and medium green (A|S colors: lemon whip, papaya, sage & fern). Its hard to see in this photo but at the top of the stamped panel, to the right is a small strip of pearls as an extra accent.

Color harmony is very important in good design, whether its card design, sewing, home decorating or even pulling an outfit together, how you combine colors really does make or break the subject. If you’re one of those people who has trouble with color harmony, it would be well worth the effort for you to get a little education in color. You would be so much happier with your creations with just some basic knowledge of the color wheel!  This LINK has some great information on color theory. Check it out if you have an interest in learning more about the color wheel and how to combine colors for complete success every time!
