let it snow…

Well, not really… after last winter I would be fine with not seeing another real snowflake anytime soon.  That said, I do love snowflake stamp sets!!  I probably have 25 different snowflakes in my stamp collection!  Of course, what is the first holiday stamp set I chose out of the A Muse Studio holiday stamp catalog?  Yup, snowflakes…Snow Crystals, to be exact!

I’ve had some fun this week, playing around with this new stamp set and wanted to show a couple of card designs I came up with and some color combinations for you to try…

This first example uses the largest snowflake image in the set. I stamped it on sugar card stock in eucalyptus ink and added little crystal embellishments to the snowflake image to give it some sparkle. I mounted it on a fern panel after using the scallop die along the bottom edge. I then tied french roast satin ribbon to the bottom of the fern panel and then attached the whole piece to the base card using foam squares. An interesting color combination and a very simple card design.

In this example above, I used winter sky as the base card color, and then used the smaller snowflakes in the set to random stamp on sugar card stock in latte, winter sky and eucalyptus ink colors. I added a latte scallop to the bottom of the random-stamped panel after wrapping a piece of french roast satin ribbon to the panel. I then mounted this whole piece to the base card using foam squares and finally stamped the sentiment along the bottom right corner of the base card.  As an added embellishment, I put pearls in the center of the winter sky snowflakes…such a pretty touch—it really dresses up the card.

In terms of thinking of what you’ll design for holiday cards this year, I hope this gives you a few ideas for using the beautiful snowflakes in this very festive stamp set.  Have some fun today!
